VANDE VAANCHHIT LAABHAAYA CHANDRARDHA KRITA SHEKHARAAM,
VRISHAARUDHAAM SHULADHARAAM SHAILA- PUTRIM YASHASVINIIM
Shailputri is the first form amongst Navadurga or nine forms of Hindu goddess Durga or Shakti, worshipped on first day during the Navratri celebrations. She is the first among Navadurgas and the first day of Navratri pooja is dedicated to Her.
Shailaputri means the daughter of the Himalaya. Shila means a rock or stone!
Dedicating today's 9kms to all the pillars of strength in my life. And to each and every woman who is indestructible and unperturbed, for all that life throws at her.

According to Hindu mythology, Shailaputri is believed to be the rebirth of Sati. She was the daughter of Daksha Shailputri and was born to the King of Mountains. Shail means mountain and Putri means daughter. Goddess Shailaputri symbolizes the power of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. She is quite recognizable as she rides a bull and carries a trident along with a lotus in her hands.

Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaye Vichaye Om Shailputri Dewya Namah
While chanting the mantra, offer flowers and gutika to the Goddess and place them on her picture. After that, offer bhog and chant the mantra given below at least 108 times.
 Om Shan Shailputri Dewya
The color for the first and second day of Navratri is Grey and Orange. On this day, devotees worship Goddess Shailaputri Maa and seek her divine blessings. The first day starts with Ghatasthapana / Pratipada which falls on the 1st and 2nd October, 2016.
