Under The Peepal Tree - A Dad-Child Festival

A FESTIVAL OF INDIAN FOLK CULTURE TO CELEBRATE FATHER-CHILD BOND
Research reveals, dads spending quality time with their child leads to heightened mental well-being and enhanced learning. Healthy interaction with father figures in the early years sets the base for future relationships.
Inviting dads to gather under the Peepal tree of Maharashtra Nature Park to experience the colourful state culture of ASSAM and spend a day of togetherness with their child.
Engage in workshops, games, stories, mud play, dance, sport, quiz puppet shows, music and drums.

Parents and kids, if you thought the events for the month are over, then you need to save the date for this one!
The annual festival called Under The Peepal Tree by Grooming Babies is back! And this edition will be something to look forward to for kids aged 6 months to 8 years where they can spend  fun-filled outdoor time learning and bonding with their dads. The various activities will help kids stimulate all the nine intelligence, besides aiding in developing trust and confidence of children.
Kidsstoppress is the Online Parenting Partner and am I so proud to associate with an event that shares our beliefs of Explore, Learn and Share. Drum Rolls to that please!!!

As always it gives me great pleasure in sharing the exclusive schedule of the event:
Earth Feel: Stomping mud may seem messy and silly, but when you go blindfolded and let your child lead you into a messy pool having fun all the way, it is a great moment to demonstrate your trust. Two hour bonding time, complete with African community dance, team building games, mud play and clay construction. Lead by a team of bio-architects from Put Your Hands Together.
Play Pretend: You never know what you are in your child’s imagination. You could be her knight in shining amour or the fastest car racer in the world. Give shape to your child’s imagination with cardboard boxes and colours.
First Step: An exclusive free play area for babies and toddlers, inspired by nature and natural play. Life-size stacking tubs, tins, blocks, grain pool, ladder hurdle, sensory bin, and other handmade natural toys offering hands-on discovery and learning through spontaneous play. The team from Born Smart will also host sessions for dad and baby, complete with music, movement and creative expression.
Relive the Story: We have a grandma who will tell a tale from a children’s book written by Sudha Murthy - Chairperson, Infosys Foundation, a mother who will recreate a Panchatantra tale through drama and pottery, and a proficient ballerina trained in Indian classical dance will stage a dance-drama by Rabindranath Tagore addressing the issue of peer pressure among today’s children and the need for healthy self esteem.
Bricolage: In ancient world people used materials readily available in their surroundings to create marvelous items that eased their everyday living. Like a clock that used shadow of a stick to tell time or a boat made from twigs or a musical instrument. Bricolage paved ways for very many great inventions and in children open their minds to creativity and imagination. In this segment children will use the techniques of bricolage to recreate some of these ancient inventions.

Act 1: Theater can resolve many challenges and address deep rooted conflicts with ease. Veteran theater enthusiast Joy Fernandes, along with his daughter, will help parents break simple day-to-day communication barriers amidst laughter and fun.
Grassroots Game: Take a step back and let your child exercise his leadership traits. Play a simple game of marbles, hopscotch, and balance tyre on a stick. An ideal setting for dad and child to engage in non-competitive play, creating their own rules and testing boundaries.
Musical Parade: Beating the pots and pans is an innate desire of children. They regale in their ability to create different sounds and rhythm from these everyday objects. Taking a cue from here, a musical walk is being created for children to explore. The drum circle and a parade around the garden with music, dance and costumes will complement the rhythm.
EcoExist: The world belongs to everyone – the plants, the insects, the animals, birds, sea creatures and even the tiny sand dust. It is their home just as much as it is ours. Walk through a path flanked by drawings of children in which they express the way they see their city to be. A special dad and child event where kids will learn and bond over activities with their dads. The event will be outdoors which will add a lot more fun and adventure to this event.

Lovely event organized by Grooming Babies - Under the Peepal Tree! Awesome location, it was hard to believe we were right in the heart of Mumbai. The music and drums show on Sat morning was out of this world! A great crowd came in, not just in terms of numbers, but they were really enthu people who were interested to try different things. Hats off to the entire Grooming Babies team for such a well organized event! Little Readers' Nook would love to be part of your future events as well!
