Mr Varun Verma is the Chief Executive Officer at Ample Wholesale, India’s 1st wholesale club, which gives the end customers (both households and small businesses) access to high quality products from the best brands at wholesale prices. It is an Ecommerce platform for wholesale buying.
A first generation entrepreneur, Varun along with Tanmay Patil founded Ample Wholesale in 2015 with the vision of organising the wholesale buying in the country and bringing it online.
Varun graduated from IIT Bombay in 2008 and worked as a consultant with Fractal Analytics where he advised companies in retail and insurance sector. In 2010, he founded a chain of fast food restaurants called RushHrs, which has 8 profitable stores in Pune. Varun was instrumental in setting up the entire supply chain for the business, which is where the seeds for Ample were sown.
Varun met Tanmay at a short stint at Tinyowl and both decided to take the Ample idea forward, with Tanmay becoming the CTO of the company.
Ample is an online retailer which is building India’s 1st wholesale club, dedicated to bring the best possible prices for the high quality branded products to its members. Not just small businesses, but household buyers too can become a member of Ample and buy at wholesale prices.
Ample has a uniques business model, where anyone wanting to become a member is required to pay an annual membership fee, post which they can start buying through the Android app or the website (www.buyample.com). The membership fee helps cover part of the operating costs and reduce our prices further.
Ample sells a curated selection of only the best quality products and brands, in a wide range of categories, ranging from staples to stationary, and are adding new products every day. In a way, Ample has already done most of the shortlisting & shopping work and our members need not spend a lot of time figuring out the quality. Pretty similar to what Army Canteens are, a curated selection of high quality products at really good prices. We already have 800+ products live on our platform.
Ample’s philosophy is simple - keep costs down and pass the savings directly to our members. The more members we have, lower our prices will get. We refrain from doing things that increase our costs, which is what makes us really different from all other retailers who try to give all possible services and choices to customers that increase the costs and hence the prices.
Company launched a pilot in December 2015 and opened it up for everyone in February 2016. Company is operating across Mumbai (except Thane and Navi Mumbai) and has grown 6X since then.
