Shepherd's pie

For a big rectangular casserole dish which is 5cm in depth : 3-4 large potatoes,2 large onions;sliced,1 large tomato, 1 carrot grated,1/2 cup peas,1 cup(250ml) crumbled paneer/ soya mince,1tsp garam Masala ,chili flakes / 1/2 tsp chilli powder,1tsp garlic paste.

Method: Boil potatoes and peel n mash it n add a little butter and a little milk and mix well. To this add a little salt and keep aside. In a kadai add oil add the sliced onions and fry till soft and pink colour. To this add garlic paste and fry for a few seconds. Then add to it garam Masala and stir for a few seconds. To this add tomato carrot and peas and keep stirring till the veggies starts changing colors then add crumbled paneer and Chilli powder/ flakes and stir. In a greased glass casserole put in the mixture and cover the entire base. Now top it with the potato mash evenly to cover the veggies. Top this up with a layer of grated cheese which is optional.
Preheat oven to 180°C and bake your Shepherd's pie for 20-25 mins or till the top is golden colour and the veggies start building at the base.Serve warm with Apple relish.**To make it the traditional way avoid any spice other than chilli flakes and pepper powder I have given it an Indian tadka. ðŸ˜Š enjoy

Apple relish is like a chutney but cooked. In butter toss peeled and chopped apple then add sugar ( 1 tsp / apple used) and Chilli flakes and cinnamon powder, a pinch of salt, and toss till apple is cooked. Then take off heat. Cool to room temp and add a dash of vinegar to this . Serve with the shepherds pie
