AKKI USILI


Raw rice - 1 tumbler 
Green gram dhal-1/2 tumbler.

Raw rice and green gram dhal should be fried lightly or heated.

Collect this combination in a separate vessel and pour water to clean it (Kalainjudanum).

Mustard, Urid dhal, Red chilli, Bengal gram, asafoetida together with curry leaves and coconut (thuruvina thenga) to be fried in oil (in Tamil we call it Thaalikkarathu).

Add everything together, add water (like we use for cooking rice) and cook in a pressure cooker. Wait for three, four whistle.

Akki Usili is ready!
