HE COMPLETED , MY GURU MY IRON MAN COMPLETED HIS RUNNING JOURNEY TODAY.
Bollywood actor and model Milind Soman successfully completed the Ironman Triathlon held in Zurich, Switzerland on 19 July. Over the last few months, he has been training, swimming and cycling with one simple objective - to compete and complete Ironman.
50-year-old Milind Soman has always been a running enthusiast. The former supermodel and actor, who is one of the very few individuals to complete the Iron Man Triathlon last year has taken up a new challenge: he is running from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, sans shoes.
The former model, now dubbed as 'The Iron Man', started running the 570 km long stretch between Ahmedabad and Mumbai via Silvassa on July 26. He is running the marathon barefoot for 'The Great India Run', which calls itself the country's first multi-city ultra marathon.
The Great India Run is not just an attempt to create running history, but also about touching lives and spreading the message of fitness through the simple act of running

"Aristotle taught that stars are made of a different matter than the four earthly elements— a quintessence— that also happens to be what the human psyche is made of.
Which is why man’s spirit corresponds to the stars. Perhaps that’s not a very scientific view, but I do like the idea that there’s a little starlight in each of us.

Great India Run from Delhi2Mumbai successfully completes today in 18 days, 3 days ahead of its targeted 21 days. Hats off to Siddharth Chaudhary from Gurgaon Road Runners for finishing the entire 1480 kms distance from India Gate to Gateway of India in record time, my co-Pinkathon Ambassadors from GOA Dinesh Heda & Delhi Shweta Sharma for doing major distances enroute, several runners who joined along the way and finally, the one and only Milind Soman for doing Ahmedabad2Mumbai.
Like mother like son. Wondering where Milind Soman learnt to run barefoot? His mom joins Milind during the penultimate day of TGIR near Manor.

Kaushal Chauhan was only 17 when he watched the 2012 Olympics in London. The sheer athleticism on display in the United Kingdom inspired him. Four years later, he is the youngest runner at the Great India Marathon, an ultra-marathon that kicked off from Delhi on July 17 and will finish in Mumbai on August 4, covering a distance of 1,480 km.

For a person who got into running just four years ago, the young man from Agra has already taken impressive strides. He has finished five marathons in four years and won the Road to Rio challenge, which means he’ll be flying to Rio de Janeiro in a few days to fulfil his dream of watching the Olympics live.
“I sometimes forget that I’m running,” said a grinning Chauhan. “Woh mehnat mehnat nahi lagta. (That effort doesn’t feel like effort).”
The easiest form of physical activity
Chauhan had been inspired by the Olympics, but he was very clear on why he went into running. “It’s such a cheap sport. For all these Olympic events, you need a proper kit, you need proper training. For running, you just need to put on a decent pair of shoes and set off. It’s all up to you and no limits. You can run as much as you want. You build your own connection with yourself," said Chauhan.
It’s a sentiment which a much-older Arun Bharadwaj completely endorses. Bharadwaj is 46 and started running 17 years ago, as a way to motivate his daughter. On the way, he became one of India’s first few multi-day runners. But the lure of records does not motivate him, it is the love of nature.
“I’ve been running for so many years but I hate gyms,” said Bharadwaj. “They’re small enclosed places. I love being out there, in the fresh air and that’s why running appeals to me so much. It becomes a spiritual experience after a while and it makes you feel closer to yourself.”
So if you’ve been contemplating putting on some shoes and going out into the great outdoors, listen to these words of encouragement from the 46-year-old.
Just do it
“You can start anytime. Anyone can run. Look at me, I only started when I was 30 and here I am. It’s probably the easiest form of physical activity, after all”, said the veteran. “If you want to run, just go out and do it.”
Chauhan provides more encouragement. “You don’t need to win a race to run, after all. You can just run for the sheer enjoyment of it. The main thing is the fear which we hold on to. And so, I say only one thing, just do it once. Start once. Run a little bit and walk after that. But as soon as you start, you’ll have done it. It requires absolutely nothing.”
But where do you run, actually, especially here on Indian roads where even walking can be a life-threatening experience? To that, Pia Hannsson, an experienced marathoner from Denmark has a solution. In India to participate in the Great Indian run, she agreed that the roads in the country may not be the most beneficial place to run.
“But, there are a lot of beautiful parks here,” said Hannsson, who is running from Delhi to Mumbai. She also has a couple of tips, drawing from her long experience. “You don’t need to be the best runner in a race, always remember. And doing it with a friend makes the experience even more fun...just run and talk...”
For a country which is slowly waking up to the fitness craze, running offers an alternative way to become fitter. Apart from obviously getting into shape, there are fewer better opportunities to go out and actually see the world go by. So in case you’re interested, why not pick up a couple of shoes and go for a run? Who knows, it might be the start of something special.

He is a teenager who has been long forgotten, yet yearns to be remembered. At the age of four, when nothing makes a child happier than sprinting to a swing in the park, he ran seven hours from Bhubaneswar to the religious town of Puri. Today, those 65km are a hazy memory because Budhia Singh can barely finish a 400m lap.
His story is one of rags to relative riches which nosedived as suddenly back to a one of penury.
He was sold for just Rs 800 by his family and after that, it was not a happy existence.
Budhia was treated badly by the new family until a judo coach Biranchi Das bought him and took him under his wings.
It was here in Odisha that Biranchi discovered the powerhouse of talent the little boy was. One day, he asked Budhia to run as a punishment and then forgot about him for hours. The rest should have been history but sadly, is a story of broken dreams and promises waylaid.
BUDHIA SINGH

Another great memorable day to felicitate Milind Soman who completed around 600kms from Ahmedabad to Mumbai with only 18 days 4days earlier to what was expected to complete in 22days.... When our group of Pinkathon sisters and brothers reached Gateway of India we saw Milind and then we ran with him from GOI to Radio Club... There we met his super mom had few pics with both of them.. Great son and greatest mom both down to earth we were delighted to meet these charming duos...
Felicitation started with the welcome of our Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadhanvis... Then the speeches of Milind and other guests followed by our CM which was very encouraging to runners and athletes... We kept on hooting and clapping for every speech especially when Milind spoke.... PINKATHON ROCKS....
Then most of the ultra runners were felicitated with medals and certificates....
Today's most surprise packet was to meet Budhiya Singh who became famous with his 68 kms run from Bhubaneswar to Puri in approximately 7hrs... With his 48 marathon runs he was included in Limca book of world records... He is now 14 yrs old and has dreams of winning Olympic medal in near future...
Today though it was week day there were many Pinkathon members present in large numbers..
